We’ve packed your delivery specifically for you, based on where you live, what you ordered, how hot it is outside, and how long your box will be in transit. These factors help us determine what box liners we use (you may notice different liners in winter vs. summer if you live in a cool climate!) as well as how many ice packs to include.
When packing deliveries, shelf-stable items are placed on top, outside the liner for most box sizes. This helps us to decrease ice usage, shipping weight and our overall carbon footprint. It also helps keep your refrigerated items colder longer.
One thing to note: ice packs are designed to melt in transit, so if they’re partially or fully melted by the time your box arrives, that’s ok! You should use the temperature of individual items, rather than the temperature of your ice packs, as your guide.
We’re constantly evolving our packing procedures to ensure that your box arrives fresh at your door. That said, if you have any doubts about the freshness of your delivery, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Customer Care team or check out our guidance for how to handle a warm box.
