Occasionally, boxes may arrive warmer than usual due to carrier delays or unexpectedly high temperatures in your region. While it’s still possible that your items may be safe to eat, your health and safety are our number one priority, so we’ve outlined a few steps you can take if you receive a warm box.
First, please check the items inside the box:
- Items marked as “KEEP REFRIGERATED” should be at a temperature of 40 degrees F or lower. If you don’t have a thermometer and/or these items feel warm to the touch, please do not consume them and toss them out.
- If any seafood feels warm, please dispose of it immediately.
- Non-refrigerated produce, pantry, and shelf-stable items should still be safe to eat.
One thing to note: ice packs are designed to melt in transit, so if they’re partially or fully melted by the time your box arrives, that’s ok! You should use the temperature of individual items, rather than the temperature of your ice packs, as your guide.
Once you’ve identified which items are safe to eat, reach out to our Customer Care team and we’ll be sure to credit you for any items that had to be thrown out. Ultimately, we encourage you to use your best judgment when you receive a warm box—if you’re uneasy about eating any items, just let us know.
